Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (Friday, Jan. 20) -In an effort to get down to league-mandated 24-man roster by Monday, the Orlando Predators made eight roster moves on Friday.
The team waived DS Levy Brown, OL/DL Derrick Crawford, DS Randee Drew, DS Marcus Floyd, OL/DL Claude Harriott, FB/LB Shurron Pierson, WR/LB Manwell Talbert, and WR/LB Marquise Walker.
The moves left the Predators with 28 players on their roster. The team will most likely place WR/LB Clif Dell on the injured reserve list on Monday, leaving at least three additional moves that will be need to be made.
"We had a very competitive pre-season camp and some of these choices were difficult," Head Coach Jay Gruden said. "We'll make a few more moves this weekend and then take our best 20 players to Georgia next week."
With the roster moves, the Predators still have nine AFL rookies in camp. Still, Gruden says he will rely on veterans to carry his team through the early weeks of the regular season.
"While guys like Jeroid Johnson, Scott Cloman and Henry Taylor are new to our team, they have all played in our league before. We'll count on those guys and our veterans like Kenny McEntyre, Joe Hamilton and Justin Cleveland to carry us into next week's game. I don't think you'll see a lot of our true Arena rookies playing a lot of minutes early. Our plan is to ease them in action."
