Kannapolis Takes Second in a Row from Rome

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Kannapolis Intimidators 8-2 Friday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of a near sell out crowd of 4,999 fans.

A solo home run by the Intimidator's Sergio Miranda in the third inning gave Kannapolis the 1-0 advantage. An RBI triple by Jim Gallagher in the sixth added to the Intimidators lead for the 2-0 score.

In the sixth, an RBI double by Rome's Freddie Freeman cut into the lead 2-1. Kannapolis quickly retained their two run lead on an RBI single by Miranda in the seventh. Rome bounced right back in the bottom of the inning thanks to an run scoring single by David Berres making it a one run game once again 3-2.

Kannapolis broke it open in the eighth inning scoring five insurance runs. A passed ball by Benji Johnson scored Eduardo Escobar, followed by a two run single by Sergio Morales. An RBI triple by Christian Marrero and a run scoring single by Matt Inouye finished the inning for the 8-2 final.

Jason Rice (6-5) takes the win for Kannapolis. Jeff Locke (4-8) picks up the loss for Rome going seven innings with three runs two earned and four strikeouts.
