Kanekoa Texeira Picked Up By Reds

Bridgeport, Conn. - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that pitcher Kanekoa Texeira has had his contract purchased by the Cincinnati Reds organization. He will report to Triple-A Louisville of the International League.

"Kanekoa was a very important part of this team and has shown he has tremendous talent," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "We wish him the best with his new organization."

Texeira appeared in 28 games for the Bluefish in 2013, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.18 ERA. He struck out 16 batters over the course of 34 innings of work. The 27-year-old has spent his professional career with the White Sox, Yankees, Mariners, Royals and Reds affiliates, reaching the Majors in 2010 with Seattle and Kansas City, respectively and then again with the Royals the following season. In the big leagues, the right hander owns a 4.66 ERA in 49 games. His best professional season came with Single-A Winston-Salem in 2008, where he went 3-1 with a 0.93 ERA finishing 33 of the 36 games he came into and saving 20 of those. In 215 career minor league games, Texeira owns a 21-19 record with a 3.11 ERA and 46 saves.
