Hurler Ruddy Lugo Heads to Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of pitcher Ruddy Lugo. Lugo makes his way to Bridgeport for his Park City debut, second season in the Atlantic League and 14th of professional baseball.

"Ruddy will be an excellent addition to our ballclub," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "He brings experience and versatility to our pitching staff."

The former Major Leaguer last pitched in 2011 with the Atlantic League's Long Island Ducks. The righty started 17 of his 20 games and held a 5-4 record with a 6.48 ERA. The 33-year-old reached the Majors in two different seasons with two separate clubs. His best campaign was in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Rays where he posted a 3.81 ERA with a 2-4 record in 64 games from the bullpen and finishing 24 of those contests. Lugo split the 2007 season with the Rays and the Oakland Athletics appearing in 38 total games going 6-0 with a 5.40 ERA. The brother of former Major League veteran shortstop, Julio Lugo, was a third round draft pick in 1999 by the Milwaukee Brewers.
