Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Halifax Mooseheads scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the Wildcats, 4-3 in overtime, Tuesday at Avenir Centre.
The game's First Star Brooklyn Kalmikov had two goals and an assist for Moncton while Third Star Vincent Labelle contributed a goal and an assist.
Kalmikov opened the scoring nearly nine minutes into the game after Yoan Loshing forced the puck into the low slot, allowing Kalmikov to deke Halifax goalie Brady James and tuck the puck inside the right post. Loshing's assist on the goal extended his points streak to eight games (7 goals, 12 points).
The Wildcats doubled their lead with more than eight minutes to go in the second when Labelle worked a give-and-go with Kalmikov, finishing it off with a heavy wrister past a sprawling James.
The Mooseheads got one back before the end of the second period, but Moncton led 2-1 through forty minutes.
Kalmikov's second of the night came 86 seconds into the third period. The overage winger corralled a loose puck inside the bottom of the right circle, stepped toward the net, deked James and beat the goaltender with a low shot inside the right post.
Halifax made it a 3-2 game five minutes later and tied the score with under seven minutes remaining in regulation time.
The game winner was scored 1:17 into overtime.
Goalie Jonathan Lemieux made 30 saves in the loss.
