Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - Omaha Lancers defenseman Kalle Eriksson announced his commitment to the University of New Hampshire.
"I got a really good impression of the coaching staff and the campus at UNH," Eriksson said.
The Swedish born defenseman has played in 22 games with the Lancers. Throughout this season, the puck moving defender has dished out 11 assists, recording 12 points.
"We are very happy for Kalle," Head Coach David Wilkie said. "Securing a Division 1 commitment and the opportunity to play in North America were enormous reasons for Kalle making the jump to the USHL this season."
"They [UNH] liked my skating ability and my ability to make creative plays."
This is Eriksson's first season in the USHL, previously, Eriksson played in the SuperElit League in Sweden.
"It [USHL] is a fast league, which means that you have to make quick decisions, and that is what's going to be expected of you in the future, as a collegiate athlete and a pro."
The 19-year-old defender will be entering at UNH in the 2019-2020 season.
"I would not have gotten to this point without my teammates and coaches helping me adjust to the American way of playing the game, along with being there for everything off-ice too," Eriksson said.
Eriksson and the Lancers return to the ice on Friday, Dec. 14th for a weekend series against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Ralston Arena.
