Kalin Lucas Leads Iowa to Victory over Idaho

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (8-10) won 113-109 over the Idaho Stampede (4-18) Sunday evening at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Kalin Lucas with a game-high 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Damien Wilkins added 26 points and 5 rebounds. Five Energy players scored in double figure points. Idaho was led by Ta'Quan Zimmerman with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Energy controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to an early 8-0 lead. Iowa would extend their lead to 10 mid-way through the quarter. Idaho would close the gap to only five points at the end of the quarter, trailing 33-28. The Energy continued to shoot the ball well in the second quarter, hitting 62 percent of their shots at halftime. Iowa would outscore the Stampede 29-26 during the second quarter to take a 62-54 halftime lead.

Iowa would extend the lead at the end of the third quarter, leading 86-75 despite Idaho playing tough during the quarter. Lucas and Wilkins would lead Iowa with 11 third quarter points each. Idaho would outscore Iowa 34-27 during the fourth quarter to close within one point in the final minutes thanks to a couple of late threes by the Stampede. In the end, Iowa's defense held strong and the Energy prevailed to a 113-109 victory.

The Energy play at home again Monday night at 7 p.m. against the Westchester Knicks.
