
Bighorns Comeback Falls Short at the Buzzer

CEDAR PARK, TEX., Jan. 11, 2015- Despite the Bighorns rallying back after trailing the Austin Spurs by 25, Reno was not able to complete the comeback falling 149-146 Sunday night at the Cedar Park Center.
Bighorns were paced by forward Quincy Miller, who logged a double-double with 37 points and 12 rebounds. David Stockton totaled 28 points and seven assists, while Brady Heslip added 28 points.
JaMychal Green led the Spurs with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Spurs guard Bryce Cotton netted 30 points, while adding seven rebounds.
In a back-and-forth first quarter the Bighorns and Spurs exchanged the lead six times and tied a total of five times. Heslip led the Bighorns in the quarter tallying 10 points and going 4-5 from the field. Ra'Shad James followed Heslip closely, netting nine points in the quarter.
Miller led the Bighorns in the second with 10 points and two rebounds, while Stockton also added two rebounds. Bighorns went into the locker room at the half trailing the Spurs 79-64.
During the third quarter, Miller led the way for the Bighorns totaling 13 points and six rebounds. Stockton added nine points and two rebounds in the quarter.
The Bighorns fought back in the fourth, starting the quarter with a 36-12 run and taking a 138-133 lead over the Spurs with two minutes remaining in the game. Austin came back to tie the game at 140 a piece at the one minute mark. After the two teams exchanged the lead the Bighorns trailed the Spurs by three before Tajuan Porter nailed a three-pointer to tie the score at 146 with 3.2 remaining in the game. A three-pointer at the buzzer by Spurs forward Jonathan Simmons lifted the Spurs over the Bighorns 149-146.
Porter led the Bighorns in the final quarter with 10 points. Stockton notched nine points, three steals, and two assists. The Bighorns totaled 44 points in the fourth quarter.
The Bighorns will continue on the road taking on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 4 P.M. PST. Reno returns home Saturday, Jan. 24 to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
