Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces that the complex will host professional boxing on Saturday, October 22nd, as The Midwest Professional Boxing Series comes to Kalamazoo.

The Midwest Professional Boxing Series has chosen Kalamazoo as its host city for their premier event of the 2005/2006 Professional Boxing Season, which features World Ranked IBF Contender Damian Fuller in The Debut, Main Event. Tickets for this premier boxing event will go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, August 26th at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster locations.

"We're excited to choose Kalamazoo as our host city for these World Class Professional Boxing productions," said Bill Snyder, President of BE/Side Productions and creator of the Midwest Professional Boxing Series. "With national sports television executives in attendance at the debut event, we expect Kalamazoo to not only be the "go to" place for the highest caliber of professional boxing in the Midwest, but a regular stop on the televised professional boxing broadcast circuit. This is a huge event for our city and we were extremely fortunate to get World Ranked Damian Fuller for our debut, Main Event.

Professional boxing, now a highly regulated and vastly attended, red carpet professional sporting event, has enjoyed a lot of positive popularity lately in the press, as well as Hollywood. The critically acclaimed and blockbuster success of both "Million Dollar Baby" and "Cinderella Man", along with the hugely successful, NBC reality show "The Contender" (that will resume on ESPN next season) has created a host of new and very enthusiastic boxing fans that cross gender lines and that venture deep into the mainstream.

"Kalamazoo is a perfect geographical location between Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis, there's a staggering number of serious Professional boxing fans in our region, Wings Stadium is a highly professional and very experienced, world class facility, and with all of the new and exciting, upbeat development in Kalamazoo, we're ready for World Class Professional Boxing," said Snyder. These Professional Boxing events are going to be very classy productions that will feature 5 or 6 professional under card bouts, fought by highly trained, professional boxers who are very motivated to work their way up the national ranks and, of course, the Main Event will feature World Ranked Damian Fuller," said Snyder.

There will be VIP, full-service, white table cloth accommodations, premier ringside positioning, great reserved seating and general admission in the main arena, and much more.

Tickets are priced at $75 VIP, $50 Ringside, $37.50 Reserved and $23 General Admission, and will be available beginning at 10 a.m. this Friday, August 26th through Ticketmaster or at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office.

Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Starting September 6th, the ticket office will have their fall hours into effect, which are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday's 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information about tickets, give the Wings Stadium Ticket Office a call during regular business hours at (269) 345-5101.

Stadium Management Company owns both Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
