Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards General Manager and Coach Brian Curran announced today that goaltender Terry Friesen has been added to the Mallard roster for 2005-06. Friesen played 23 games in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) last season with the Columbus Cottonmouths. In his seven-year pro career, Friesen has tended net in 214 games.

Last season, Friesen went 12-9-0 with the Cottonmouths. He posted a 3.50 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. The Winkler, Manitoba native also appeared in his 200th pro game during the 2004-05 season.

Prior to joining the Cottonmouths, Friesen spent part of four years with the Fresno Falcons in both the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) and ECHL. In 2001-02, Friesen backstopped Fresno to the Taylor Cup as playoff champions of the WCHL.

"Terry is a solid, character player," said Curran. "He will fit the concept of what I'm trying to accomplish in a positive way-on and off the ice."

Friesen also enjoyed a very distinguished junior career with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Friesen was named to the WHL First All-Star Team in 1997-98. In his first full season in the WHL, 1995-96, Friesen was named to the league's Second All-Star Team. His exploits as a junior player, led to his selection by the San Jose Sharks in the third round (55th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
