Richmond RiverDogs News Release

Richmond, VA - Another fun-filled community event came and went for the Richmond RiverDogs this past weekend. The Dogs wagged their tails out to The Diamond to take in a ballgame Saturday night with their baseball counterparts, the Richmond Braves, the Triple-AAA affiliate for Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves.

The game itself was exciting, with the Braves coming from behind to beat the International League-leading Toledo Mud Hens 8-6, helped by five runs in the home-half of the seventh inning. The event, however, was what the RiverDogs left barking about.

"I had had one opportunity to meet Braves General Manager Bruce Baldwin prior to the game and he was a delight," said Robbie S. Nichols, the GM and Head Coach for the Dogs. "He and his staff were so welcoming to my staff, inviting us up to the press box to watch the game and letting our mascot Razz follow the Diamond Duck around the field during pre-game. I can tell this is just the beginning of something big!"

The RiverDogs are next out in the Richmond community this weekend at the 92nd Chesterfield County Fair. The Fair runs from Friday, August 26th until Saturday, September 3rd, but the Dogs expect to be on-hand entertaining fans with games and Razz on the 27th and 28th. For more information on the event, call (804) 768-0148.

Richmond opens its pre-season on October 14th with back-to-back games against new rival Roanoke. The matches, taking place in the 700-seat Skate Nation on the 14th and 15th, are being tabbed as the "Battle on Broad Street!" The regular season commences on Friday, October 21st, as the RiverDogs host the Adirondack Frostbite at the Richmond Coliseum. Individual game tickets for all Richmond home games will be available for purchase beginning in early-October. We will keep you updated with all developments regarding ticket sales as we draw closer to the season. Season tickets, FlexPaks, birthday parties and group packages are available through the RiverDogs' office.
