Kaiden Guhle to Captain Team Canada at 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship

Edmonton, AB - Hockey Canada has announced that Kaiden Guhle (Sherwood Park, AB/Edmonton, WHL) will wear the 'C' for Canada's National Junior Team at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer, Dec. 26-Jan. 5.

Jake Neighbours (Airdrie, AB/Edmonton, WHL) and 2021 IIHF World Championship gold medallist Cole Perfetti (Whitby, ON/Manitoba, AHL) will serve alongside Guhle as alternate captains.

"It is an honour any time you have the opportunity to wear the Maple Leaf, and it is even more special to be able to do it on home ice close to where I grew up," Guhle said. "To be selected as captain for the World Juniors in Edmonton and Red Deer is something I take a lot of pride in, and I look forward to competing alongside my teammates as we look achieve our goal of winning a gold medal."

Canada announced its 25-player roster on Dec. 12 following a four-day selection camp that included a pair of games against a team of U SPORTS all-stars. Canada will kick off the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship on Boxing Day against Czechia, and will also play Austria on Dec. 28, Germany on Dec. 29 and Finland on Dec. 31 to wrap up preliminary-round action. All Team Canada games will be played at 5 p.m. MT/7 p.m. ET.

TSN and RDS, the official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada, will carry extensive game coverage and analysis throughout the World Juniors and will broadcast all 31 tournament games. TSN Radio will also provide comprehensive coverage.
