K-Wings' Svendsen Named Player of the Week

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, two-time defending North Division Champions, reigning Eastern Conference Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Albany Devils, announce forward Brandon Svendsen has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for October 31st-November 6th.

Svendsen helped the K-Wings to a 2-1-0-0 week last week by registering six points (three goals, three assists) and in the processed kept Kalamazoo atop of the North Division.

The native of Merced, California, leads the K-Wings with 13 points with seven goals and six assists. Kalamazoo is off to a 6-2-0-0 start, which includes a mark of 4-0-0-0 at Wings Stadium.

Svendsen becomes the third member of the organization joining current K-Wing Trent Daavettila (2010-11) and former K-Wing Andrew Fournier (2009-10) to be named Player of the Week.

On behalf of Svendsen, a case of pucks will be donated to a Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (KOHA) by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01,Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The K-Wings will remain home this Friday, November 11th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Trenton Titans during Military Appreciation Night, presented by SportClips Haircuts. All military, police, fire and EMT personal can receive a discount to the November 11th contest with proper ID. November 11th will also be a Frugal Fan Friday, featuring $1 Beers and $1 Hot Dogs.

Kalamazoo will conclude the home stand this Saturday, November 12th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Chicago Express during Scout Night and a Saturday "Celebrity" Series, featuring Kalamazoo's very own fishing icon, Kevin Van Dam.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $12.90 and $16.90 for adults, $11.90 for seniors (62 years and older) and military (with proper ID) and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $1.
