KALAMAZOO, MI- The Manchester Monarchs netted the game-tying goal late in the third period, and completed their comeback with the game winner in overtime, defeating the Kalamazoo Wings, 2-1, on Education day at Wings Event Center.

Opening the scoring at 6:44, Lane Scheidl extended his point streak to three games with his fourth marker of the season. Camping out in front of Monarchs' net minder Cedrick Desjardins, Scheidl's initial shot was stopped, but he was able to deposit the rebound beyond the pad of Desjardins.

Kalamazoo held the lead for nearly 50-minutes before surrendering the tying goal while on the penalty kill midway through the third period. Matt Leitner lifted a sharp-angle shot on Joel Martin from below the goal line, with the puck finding a hole between Martin and the pipe.

Each team earned a point, as the game moved into three-on-three overtime. In the extra time, both teams saw quality scoring chances, but it was Manchester who netted the game winner. Stefan Legein raced through the neutral zone around the Kalamazoo defense creating a breakaway opportunity. Legein didn't miss as he went backhand-forehand past the glove of Martin.

Notes: Lane Scheidl is on a three-game point streak. Anton Cederholm recorded his first point since 11/7, with the secondary assist on Scheidl's tally. Joel Martin turned aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced.
