Di Salvo Shines in Debut as Eagles Defeat Allen 4-1

(Loveland, CO) - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Allen Americans 4-1 at the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland on Wednesday, giving the Eagles their fourth consecutive win. The Eagles scored three goals in the second period for the third straight game to boost them to the win. Goaltender Peter Di Salvo stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced in his ECHL debut.

Colorado held an 11-4 shot advantage after the first 20 minutes of play but even with the offensive opportunities they were unable to get on the board. Heading into first intermission Colorado and Allen were scoreless after 20 minutes.

Colorado broke the second period wide open, scoring three goals in the final seven minutes of the middle frame. Eagles forward Kyle Kraemer scored first for the Eagles, tapping in a rebound from in front of the net at the 14:20 mark to make it 1-0 Colorado.

Forward Ludwig Karlsson gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead with 4:13 to play in the period on a back door opportunity. Fellow forward Everett Sheen continued his hot streak as of late picking up an assist on the play.

Minutes later, the Eagles found a shorthanded breakaway on an Americans power play. Allen goaltender Riley Gill came out of the crease and got knocked down, giving the Eagles a scoring opportunity. Forward Trent Daavettila scored for the Eagles with 13 seconds remaining, giving them a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.

With 7:30 to play in the game the Eagles scored again, this time on the power play. In his first game back from serving a six-game suspension, forward Jesse Mychan scored from the slot to give Colorado a 4-0 lead.

The Americans broke up the shut out with 46 seconds to play in the game on a goal from between the circles from forward Jonathan Parker, but the Eagles held on for a 4-1 win.

The Eagles head out on the road Friday for a two-game series against the Utah Grizzlies in Salt Lake City.
