Missouri River Otters News Release

A balanced scoring attack led the Kalamazoo Wings to a 7-1 victory against the Missouri River Otters Saturday night at Wings Stadium.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the opening period when Jason Deitsch crashed the net and scored on a one-time to extend his point streak to 17 games. After the puck went into the net, Deitsch steamrolled into Kevin Reiter, who left the game with an injury. The K-Wings added two more goals before the end of the period as Tyler Willis and Nick Bootland lit the lamp behind Brenden Cuthbert. Kalamazoo got second-period goals from Daniel Carriere and Mike Dombkiewicz, both on the power play, to make it a 5-0 game after two periods. Jeff Brown got the River Otters on the board in the third period with a slap-shot from the right point, but the K-Wings got goals from Greg Labenski and Scott Johnson to make it a 7-1 game. Joel Martin made 20 saves in the victory while Cuthbert made 25 saves in defeat.

The River Otters host the Quad City Mallards Sunday at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 4:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Networks, located at www.riverotters.com.
