K-Wings Countdown To Face-Off

For the second time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will square off against the Gwinnett Gladiators. Kalamazoo won the first encounter 5-4 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Including this evening, the teams will meet four more times, with all of the contests occurring at Wings Stadium.

Playing the fourth-leg of a season-high eight-game home stand, the K-Wings are 2-1-0-0 during the current stretch. With 32 points, Kalamazoo leads the North Division by one point for the Cincinnati Cyclones and two points ahead of the Toledo Walleye.

Preparing for the fourth contest of a five-game road swing, Gwinnett enters Wings Stadium 2-1-0-0 during the trip. Currently in fourth place in the South Division with 29 points, the Gladiators are one point behind the Florida Everblades for third and trail the Charlotte Checkers by three points for second place.

Bootland Returns

After missing the past 17 games due to playing with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, forward Darryl Bootland returns tonight to the K-Wings lineup. Bootland has rung up eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) in seven games this season with Kalamazoo.

The Mad Hatter

Forward Andrew Fournier tied a K-Wings season-high and established a personal career-best by recording five points (3 goals, 2 assists) during the K-Wings 7-3 victory Saturday versus Wheeling. The hat trick from Fournier was his first in his career and the second this season earned by a K-Wing.

Five Alive

Kalamazoo's Rick Cleaver starts the week on a five-game point streak. Cleaver, who has earned nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) during his current run, has now recorded point streaks of five or more games on three separate occasions this year.

Southern Comfort

On the season, the K-Wings have played solid hockey against the South Division. Kalamazoo is 3-1-0-0 versus the South with their lone loss occurring versus the Florida Everblades back on November 29th.
