Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Game Preview

A new tradition will begin at Wings Stadium tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Bloomington PrairieThunder during the inaugural McDonald's Golden Ice Game, presented by WOTV and WIN 98.5. On the season, the K-Wings are 3-4-0-0 versus the Thunder and 2-1-0-0 at home.

Suffering their sixth shutout of the season, the K-Wings are hoping to continue their season trend. Kalamazoo is 4-1-0-0 after being held scoreless in their previous contest. With 50 points, Kalamazoo is tied with Muskegon for third and is one point behind Fort Wayne, who is in second.

Perhaps playing their best hockey of the season, Bloomington is attempting to climb out of the IHL cellar. The PraireThunder enter the night in sixth place and are just one point behind the Flint Generals, who currently occupy the fifth spot in the standings.

On Golden Pond

Kalamazoo will conclude their three-game home stand tonight versus Bloomington during the 1st Annual McDonald's Golden Ice Game, presented by McDonald's, WOTV and WIN 98.5 FM. Following the contest, the K-Wings will auction off their special jerseys with the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House.

Power Outage

Kalamazoo's power-play has struggled going 0 for 18 in their last three games. Since the start of the new year, the K-Wings have only been able to generate man-advantage goals in three of their 47 chances.

Goose Eggs

For the sixth time this season and the 89th time in the IHL history the K-Wings were shutout. Four of Kalamazoo's six shutouts this season have occurred in the month of January.

Ending on a High Note

After registering 9-3-0-0 records in both November and December, Kalamazoo will try to avoid a losing month in January. Entering the night, the K-Wings are 6-6-0-0 in the new year.
