
Icehawks blanked by Komets

FORT WAYNE, IN - The second game in a doubleheader between the Port Huron Icehawks and the Fort Wayne Komets saw the same score as the first contest, but with a different result. The Komets shutout the Icehawks 4-0 on Saturday at Memorial Coliseum, a night after the Icehawks beat Fort Wayne by the same margin.
The loss snaps a 12 game unbeaten streak on the road for Port Huron and also marks the first time they have been shutout this season. The Icehawks (27-15-2-1) remain in first place in the International Hockey League with 57 points, four points ahead of the second place Komets (23-15-1-6).
David Hukalo, Maxime Gravelle, Konstantin Shafranov and P.C. Drouin all scored for the Komets. Shafranov's goal came on the power play.
The Komets outshot the Icehawks 31-26 in the win. Komets goalie Sebastien Laplante stopped all 26 shots faced to earn the shutout. Icehawks goalie Ryan Mior, who on Friday earned his second shutout in three starts, suffered the loss with 27 saves on 31 shots. The Icehawks were 0-4 on the power play and the Komets were 1-7 on the power play.
The Icehawks face a home and home series with the Kalamazoo Wings next week. They host the K-Wings on Wednesday, then travel to Kalamazoo on Friday.
