
Thunder earn 4-2 victory over Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder matched the longest unbeaten streak in the franchise's three-year history at seven with a 4-2 victory over Kalamazoo at Wings Stadium before 4,238 people Saturday in International Hockey League action.
The victory also moved the PrairieThunder into fifth place in the standings, ahead of Flint with a 17-22-1-2 record (37 points). The loss dropped Kalamazoo's record to 25-17-0-0 (50 points).
The PrairieThunder returns to action Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. contest at U.S. Cellular against Muskegon.
Jon Booras put the PrairieThunder on the board first with a goal at the 10:26 mark of the first period on an assist by Jan Jas. Bloomington extended the lead to 2-0 with 10:16 remaining in the second period on Brett Clarke's goal with assists to Corey Rutt and Mike Kusy.
Kalamazoo cut the deficit in half when Glen Detulleo scored a power play goal with 4:27 left in the second period off assists from Justin Cross and Casey Handrahan. But the PrairieThunder answered when Marty Standish scored with 1:42 remaining in the second period with assists to John Nail and Bill Bagron.
Kalamazoo scored with 9:26 left in the game before Henry Kuster dropped in an empty-net goal with 56 remaining to ice the victory. Jason Wolfe won his second game in as many starts since joining the team last week by stopping 30 of 32 shots. Bloomington owned a 35-32 advantage in shots.
