Kinston Indians News Release

The K-Tribe begins a seven game road trip at Salem, VA tonight at 7:05 pm.

High Five- Roman Pena drove in five runs in Kinston's 7-6 loss last night, a season-high for the Indians. Pena went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. His three-run triple in the ninth pulled the K-Tribe within one run, but the rally fell short. Pena now has 8 RBI on the season, the other three coming in a win over Myrtle Beach last Sunday.

Opposite Fields- The K-Tribe pitching staff continues to lead the league in ERA, while the batting average remains among the lowest in the circuit. Kinston's 2.75 ERA is still tops, with Salem's staff in second place. Kinston has allowed 14 fewer earned runs than the Red Sox. Opponents hit just .233 against the K-Tribe, which is also best in the league. The Indians .240 batting average is second-lowest in the league along with their 84 runs on the season.

The Number 23 - That's the number worn by Karexon Sanchez, who extended his team season-best hitting streak to 9 games last night. He's hitting .364 with 1 HR and 8 RBI over that stretch and leads Kinston with 11 RBI on the season. He is 3rd in the league with a .449 OBP and his .327 batting average ranks 10th.
