
K-Tribe Lets One Slip Away in Extra Innings

The Wilmington Blue Rocks scored three runs in the bottom of the tenth inning to comeback and beat the K-Tribe 6-5 in an extra inning heart breaker Tuesday night in Delaware. With the scored tied at three in the top of the tenth inning, Kinston's Johnny Drennen led off with a single. After a Beau Mills walk, Jared Goedert sent an RBI double to the wall scoring Drennen. Carlos Rivero added a sacrifice fly to put the K-Tribe up 5-3. With one out and Neil Wagner on the hill in the bottom of the tenth, Wilmington's David Wood drew a walk. Curtis Mertins drove him home with a double to cut the K-Tribe lead to one. Matt Morizio tied the game with an RBI single one batter later. After a Wilver Perez strike out, Jarrod Dyson drove in the winning run with a single that just stayed fair up the third base line.
Goedert went 2-4 with two RBI's for Kinston, extending his hitting streak to eight games. Paolo Espino put forth a good start for Kinston, giving up just two runs and four hits through five innings. Erik Stiller and Luis Perdomo provided four innings of one run relief.
The K-Tribe (2-7), returns home for an eleven game homestand starting Thursday night at 7pm. Kinston sends Steven Wright to the mound against Myrtle Beach. Its t-shirt giveaway night at the ballpark, with the first one-thousand fans getting a free shirt.
