K-Tribe kicks off a three game roadtrip in Wilmington

Hot Weather, Hot K-Tribe - On July 31st the K-Tribe was delivered a crushing double header defeat at the hands of Myrtle Beach. The loss was Kinston's seventh in a row and took their second half record to 11-24, eight games out of first place in the Southern Divison. The loss put Kinston's overall record at 38-65, the worst winning percentage in all of baseball save for MLB's Washington Nationals. Since then things have turned around as Kinston has gone 14-4 in the month of August. The K-Tribe has posted a 2.64 team ERA in the month of August, the lowest in the Carolina League. Kinston is also second in the CL for the month in batting average (.282) and tied for first in home runs with thirteen. Kinston's 14 wins this month is already the most they've had in any month this season. Kinston won eleven games in both April and May. Kinston won just seven games in June and nine games in July.

Playoff Picture - Kinston is now one game ahead of Salem and two games ahead of Myrtle Beach in the Wild Card chase for the final playoff spot in the Carolina League Southern Division with 17 games left. The good news for Kinston is they have won the season series and have the tie break with both Salem (11-9) and Myrtle Beach (11-8).
