Justin Abdelkader to Appear at RoughRiders Game

Cedar Rapids, IA - Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward and current Detroit Red Wing Justin Abdelkader will be returning to The Stable. Abdelkader, who played for the RoughRiders Clark Cup Championship team in 2004-2005, will be the featured guest when the team takes on the Omaha Lancers Saturday, December 12th. A special Abdelkader bobblehead, wearing a RoughRiders jersey, will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans through the door, sponsored by ITC Midwest.

A schedule of events for the evening will include a pre-game ceremony honoring Abdelkader and an autograph session during the 1st period.

Abdelkader was 3rd in team scoring during the RoughRiders 2004-2005 season with 52 points. The team won the Anderson Cup that season as well for the best regular season record. He went on to Michigan State where he played for 3 seasons, scoring the game winning goal against Boston College in the National Championship during the 2006-2007 season. He was named the NCAA Tournament MVP as well as Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player during that season. He has been with the Red Wings since the 2007-2008 season, playing in 398 regular season games scoring 61 goals.
