Juniors Fall to Quebec 5-2

Montreal, November 22nd, 2009 - The Montreal Juniors played their third game in three days against the Quebec Remparts this afternoon and lost by the score of 5 to 2. It was a close match at the end of the first, but the Remparts pulled away with two goals in the second period. Juniors forward Pier-Antoine Dion scored the two Juniors goals. Kelsey Tessier, Samuel Groulx, David Gilbert, Maxime Gravel, and Dmitri Kugryshev scored the five Rempart goals.

It was an action-filled first period. Remparts forward Kelsey Tessier opened the scoring with a penalty shot goal at 4:38. The Juniors tied the game on the power play when winger Pier-Antoine Dion first one past Gagnon for his tenth of the year at 6:22 from Jeremy Gouchie and Eliezer Sherbatov. Just two minutes later, Quebec added two quick goals Samuel Groulx and David Gilbert. Dion scored his second of the game on another power play from Gouchie and Hubert Genest as he cut the deficit to one at 14:47. In the second, the Remparts extended their lead as Maxime Gravel and Dmitri Kugryshev got on the score sheet. There was no scoring in the third. However, the physical play certainly stepped up as four fights broke out in the last ten minutes of the game. The Remparts defeat the Juniors by the score of 5 to 2.

Juniors goalie Jake Allen gave up 3 goals on 7 shots. His replacement, Jean-Francois Berube, made 24 saves. Remparts goaltender Jean-Philippe Gagnon won it for the Remparts as he stopped 25 shots. Montreal's record stands at 12-14-0-1 and the Remparts improve to 17-5-2-3.

Juniors will be back in the Auditorium as they host the Gatineau Olympiques on Friday, November 27th at 7:35PM. Then the Juniors will have a back-to-back series against the Rimouski Oceanic. Montreal will first visit Rimouski as the Juniors take on the Oceanic at 3PM Sunday, November 29th. The Juniors will return to Verdun to face the Oceanic on Friday, December 4th at 7:35PM.

Suite =E0 la défaite de 3-1 de la veille contre Shawinigan causée par un revirement en fin de partie, les émotions allaient certainement se faire ressentir dans le jeu de la formation montréalaise. De son c=F4té, l'équipe de Patrick Roy se situe dans les premiers au classement de la ligue et n'allait pas se laisser battre facilement. Les Remparts sont sortis victorieux de cet affrontement. Le pointage final a été de 5-2 et le Junior retourne =E0 la maison avec une fiche de 12-14-0-1. En premi=E8re période, Kelsey Tessier des Remparts a déjoué Jake Allen lors d'un lancer de punition qui lui a été accordé. Pier-Antoine Dion est venu rétablir les choses seulement deux minutes apr=E8s avec l'aide de Jérémy Gouchie et Eliezer Sherbatov. Encore deux minutes plus tard, Simon Groulx a redonné l'avance =E0 son équipe et quelques secondes apr=E8s, David Gilbert est venu creuser l'écart davantage avec son cinqui=E8me de la saison.
