TONIGHT: The Mudcats continue a six game road trip tonight with a de facto doubleheader and games one and two of a three game series versus the Dash at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem. The first game will be played through its entirety and will later be followed by a shortened seven-inning game approximately :30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
ICYMI: Last night's game was suspended in the top of the second inning due to heavy rain and wet grounds at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem. The game was stopped with one out in the second and with Ronnie Gideon at second base for the Mudcats.
VS. DASH: Tonight's de facto doubleheader will account for the first and second games of a three game series between the Mudcats and Dash in Winston-Salem. It will also account for the 9th and 10th of 20 total games between the two teams this season. The two teams have traded 3-1 series victories so far this season; with the Mudcats going 3-1 in Carolina during the first series of the season (4/5-4/8) and the Dash going 3-1 against Carolina between 4/12 and 4/15. The overall season series is tied at 4-4.

WHERE THEY RANK: Cam Roegner leads the Carolina League in lowest earned run average this season having pitched to a 1.26 ERA (57.1 IP, 8 ER) this season. Roegner is also 4th the CL in innings pitched (57.1), tied for 1st in wins (6), 2nd in LOB% (86.5%) and 3rd in GB% (52.8%)... Luis Aviles Jr. is tied for 2nd in the CL in stolen bases (14)... Tucker Neuhaus (70) and Ronnie Gideon (67) are 1st and 2nd in the CL in most strikeouts... Luke Barker is tied for the CL lead in games (18) and is 2nd in the CL in fewest baserunners/9ip (8.44).
GOT HEEEM: Max McDowell leads MiLB catchers in most caught steals (29) and is 2nd in caught stealing/stolen base efficiency (.547) for catchers with at least 30 attempts against in all of MiLB... McDowell totaled 17 caught steals during his first season with the AZL Brewers in 2015. He then totaled 54 CS in 2016 with Wisconsin and 31 CS last season with Carolina.
MUDDIES ON THE POND: Carolina is batting a CL low .236 with runners on base. The Mudcats are also 8th in the CL when batting with runners in scoring position (.244) and 9th when batting with RISP/2-outs (.216) this season. They have additionally struck out a league high 231 times when batting with runners on base this season.
HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 97 more strikeouts than hits (523 SO, 426 H) so far this season. Carolina's difference in strikeouts over hits is currently the 3rd largest in MiLB. Since 1991, only the 2017 and 2007 Mudcats have finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits in 2017 (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).
QUITE THE FAREWELL: Keston Hiura bid farewell to the Carolina League by going 5-for-5 with two home runs, three runs and two RBI on May 31 in Lynchburg. He set career highs for hits and home runs in a game in what ended up going his last game with the Mudcats as Milwaukee promoted him to Double-A the following morning. Hiura left the CL ranked 2nd in batting (.320), 1st, 2nd in hits (66), 1st in doubles (16), 1st in extra-base hits (26), tied for 1st in slugging (.529), tied for 2nd in runs (38) and 1st in total bases (109).
STINGY MAY: Carolina pitchers combined to pitch to a Carolina League best 2.65 ERA in May (258.1 IP, 105 BB, 255 SO, .225 AVG). They also went 16-13 in May, while the offense totaled 20 home runs, 4.48 runs/game and a .245 average (.702 OPS).
ALL THAT POWER: The Mudcats have homered in four straight games and have totaled nine home runs over those same four games. They set a new season high for home runs in a game with five on May 31 in Lynchburg. The five home run barrage included a lead-off home run to start the game from Dallas Carroll, a solo shot from Ryan Aguilar in the fourth, a three-run blast in the fifth from Weston Wilson and solo shots from Keston Hiura in the seventh and ninth innings.
