Bradenton Juice News Release

Aiken, SC- The Bradenton Juice put together solid pitching, timely hitting, and great defense to defeat the Aiken Foxhouds 3-2 in 10 innings. Bradenton handed Aiken its second loss of the season at home in as many nights.

Aiken scored first in the Bottom of the 5th when John Landry led off with a single to left field. Two batters later Evandy DeLeon launched a two-run home run deep over left field wall giving the Foxhounds a 2-0 lead. The runs ended the Juice's 13-inning shutout streak of the Foxhounds.

Bradenton didn't score until the 8th inning when Zach Woodward led off with an infield single. After Woodward stole second base one of the top hitters in the league Julius Thames came threw with a single to right field scoring Woodward.

The Juice entered the 9th inning trailing by a run but Al Corbeil did his best to turn things around by doubling to left field and advancing on the play to third base on an error by shortstop Jeff Landry. Two batters later Mikela Olsen doubled to right field scoring Corbeil from third base tying the game at 2.

In the bottom of the inning Joe Cuttone led off for Aiken with a single to center field. Cuttone eventually got to third base and with two outs Ben Bando hit a ground ball destined to be an infield single. But second baseman Julius Thames fielded the ball behind second base and with his momentum leaning away from first base he made an off balance throw to first that beat Bando by a step.

After his older brother scored the tying run in the previous inning Nick Corbeil led off the 10th by launching his first home run as a member of the Juice deep over the left field wall.

Steve Alverson pitched the 9th and 10th innings for Bradenton picking up his first victory of the season making his record 1-0. Cody Reed takes the loss for Aiken and his record falls to 2-1.

The victory clinched the series win for the Bradenton Juice and they have now won five consecutive series since losing the first series of the season against the Macon Music. Friday's win improves Bradenton's record to 10-7 while Aiken falls to 13-6.

LHP Brian Gartley is scheduled to start on the mound for Bradenton in the series finale of the series against Aiken on Saturday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium at USC-Aiken.
