Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today, pending league approval, that transition player Josh Sims will rejoin the team in time for this weekend's games. Sims, who had announced his retirement from the game just before the 2009 season, adds a spark and some consistency to an injury-depleted squad during their home stretch run to the playoffs.
The former National Lacrosse League All-Star, and resident of Boulder, CO, has played his entire NLL career with the franchise including two seasons with the Washington Power before the team moved to Colorado. In 99 regular season games, Sims has scored 179 points (81 goals, 98 assists) and has tallied another 22 points in playoff action (14 goals, 8 assists).
"Over the years, Josh has been one of this team's steady go-to guys and adds a unique presence both on and off the field," Colorado Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "We're excited to have Josh rejoin us at this point in the season."
To make room for Sims on the roster, the team has deactivated fellow transition player Tim Booth.
Colorado is at home this Friday, April 3, when the Rochester Knighthawks visit Pepsi Center for BLACKOUT Night and Party Pack Night. The following evening, the team travels to Portland to faceoff against the LumberJax at 8:30pm (MDT). Tickets for all Mammoth home games are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Ticketmaster retail centers, online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at 303.830.TIXS or 719.520.9090.
