Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings' Athan Iannucci was named the NLL's Player of the Week for his performances in the team's 17-13 win over the Colorado Mammoth last Saturday night. Iannucci had seven points in the game (4G 3A) and picked up six loose balls. Two of his four goals came on special teams; one shorthanded and the other on a Wings powerplay.
"Athan continues to work hard on rehabbing his knee," said Wings Head Coach Dave Huntley. "It has been great to have him back in the lineup and I am happy that his efforts were noted this week."
Iannucci, who was the 2008 NLL MVP, is coming off of major knee surgery in the off-season which kept him out of half of Philadelphia's games this season. In six games played in 2009, he has 12 goals and 10 assists, along with 21 loose balls. Iannucci also had the Wings' game winning goal in a 13-12 home victory over the Minnesota Swarm on February 21, 2009.
The Wings play their next home game on April 5 at 2:30p.m. when they take on the New York Titans at the Wachovia Center on Utz team photo giveaway day. Tickets start at just $10! To purchase tickets or receive more information call (215) 389-WING (9464) or visit WingsLAX.com.
