Josh Davis Named Player of the Week by CBA

BOISE, ID- January 5, 2004- The Idaho Stampede, the Treasure Valley's professional basketball team, announced today that forward/center Josh Davis was named the CBA Player of the Week for the week ending January 3.

Idaho Stampede Head Coach, Larry Krystkowiak, said of the announcement, "We are extremely proud of Josh's accomplishments and his award. His confidence and ability to play unselfishly is a key reason why our team has played so well together."

Davis helped lead the Stampede to a 3-1 record this past week. He scored 80 points in four games on 33-49 (.673) shooting from the field, 11-13 (.846) from the free-throw line, while grabbing 45 rebounds, dishing out 8 assists, blocking 6 shots and collecting 5 steals. Davis has collected 7 double-doubles in points and rebounds for the Stampede this season, is the CBA's sixth leading scorer with 18.6 ppg and currently ranks 4th in rebounds with 9.3.

Davis exploded to score 21 points while grabbing 11 rebounds this past Wednesday, December 31, in a 119-116 victory over the league leading Dakota Wizards. Three nights later, he scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as he helped the Stampede end the Gary Steelheads' nine-game winning streak with a 117-114 overtime victory.

Davis, a 6'8, 235 lb. forward/center has spent parts of his professional playing career in the CBA, USBL and overseas. The University of Wyoming standout became only the ninth player in school history to score 1,000 career points and grab 700 career rebounds.

The Stampede returns back to the Idaho Center this Friday and Saturday, January 9-10, to tip-off against the Gary Steelheads at 7:10 p.m. both nights.
