Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS -- Outfielder Mycal Jones was placed on the disabled list with a right ankle sprain and outfielder Greg Golson was reassigned to Double-A Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Jones, 26, exited game one of Saturday's doubleheader after spraining his ankle trying to get back to third on a pickoff attempt. He was hitting .261 with 16 doubles, three homers and 31 RBI in 105 games for the M-Braves. Jones also leads the M-Braves team with 29 stolen bases on the season, tied for fourth-most in the Southern League. Jones strung together a 16-game hitting streak (25-62, .403) that ran from July 19 through August 7. He was selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2009 draft out of Miami-Dade Community College South.
Golson, 27, was hitting .462 in seven games at Triple-A Gwinnett. He started the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs where he hit .244 with two doubles, five triples, five homers and 22 RBI in 55 games for the Rockies affiliate. He was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a free agent on July 31. Originally a first round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004, Golson has appeared in 40 big league games (Phillies, Rangers and Yankees).
