
Jones Throws 7 Inning No-No; Travs Sweep Twinbill

North Little Rock, AR - Connor Jones threw a seven-inning no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader and the Arkansas Travelers threw dual shutouts defeating the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 6-0 and 2-0 on Thursday night. Jones tossed the first no-hitter for the Travs since Matt Brash, Nate Fisher and Dayeison Arias combined on a nine inning no-no on September 2, 2021. Five pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout in game two. For the night, the Travs pitching staff held the best hitting team in the league to no runs on two hits over 14 innings. The offense scored in five consecutive innings in the opener and then put up a pair of runs in the sixth inning of the back half.

* Jones walked three hitters in the third inning but got out of the inning with no damage. They were the only three base runners he allowed all night.
* Jack Larsen lined a solo homer in the bottom of the third to push the lead to two.

* Ben Onyshko allowed consecutive hits to open the second but got out of the inning with a double play ball. Those were the only hits of the night for Amarillo.
* Joe Rizzo blasted a two-out home run in the bottom of the sixth to put the Travs on top.
