Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The National Lacrosse League announced today that Colorado Mammoth forward Adam Jones has been named the league's Rookie of the Week. Jones, who recorded three goals and eight assists against the Washington Stealth in a home-and-home series, led the Mammoth in scoring in both games.
"It was a really good weekend for Adam," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. "With [John Grant] Jr. out, we needed contributions from other guys and Adam stepped up, especially Saturday night with a three [goal] and four [assist] game. He distributed the ball well, shot the ball well, and we're really proud of his effort."
Jones also earned the honor following Week #3 this season, and was the NLL's Rookie of the Month in January. He leads all rookies in points (49) and assists (30), and is top-ten in the league in both categories. In February, he was a starter in the NLL All-Star Game.
One week ago, Mammoth forward Derek Hopcroft earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Following a bye, the West-Division-leading Colorado Mammoth (8-2) returns home to HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on Friday, March 23 at 7pm MT to take on the East-Division-leading Philadelphia Wings (5-4). Colorado can clinch a playoff berth with a win. Tickets are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
