Wings Defend Home Turf, East Division Lead against Edmonton March 17
March 14, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings (5-4) of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will look to avenge a 12-10 road loss to the Rush (2-6) earlier this season when Edmonton visits the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m.
After claiming sole possession of the East Division lead with a 12-10 victory in Toronto last weekend, the Wings are hoping to keep the Rochester Knighthawks (0.5 game back) and Rock (1.0 game back) at bay with a victory over the Rush Saturday night.
The Rush enter the weekend coming off a 16-9 loss at Calgary last Saturday in which the team entered the fourth quarter tied 9-9, but struggled to keep pace with the Roughnecks in the fourth quarter and were outscored 7-0.
Wings Head Coach Johnny Mouradian knows the Rush have the talent necessary to compete with Philadelphia on Saturday. "Derek [Keenean] and his staff have a good, young club there. They have a good goals against average and are really stingy on defense," Mouradian said. "They have a lot of young talent. They play hard and there's no shortage of effort."
In the teams' first meeting at Edmonton's Rexall Place, the Wings were outplayed early but came within a goal after a late fourth quarter surge, ultimately falling 12-10.
"Statistically we were in the first game at Edmonton. We just need to clean up some things in our transition game," says Mouradian. "We're looking forward to hosting them in Philly and I'm sure it is going to be a close game for both teams."
Tickets to all Wings home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
