Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
July 24, 2007 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that catcher Jon Hodach has voluntarily retired from the Angels organization. The announcement was confirmed by Tony Reagins, Director of Player Development, with the Angels.
Hodach, 23, played in 24 games for the Kernels and posted a .164 batting average (10-61) with six doubles and an RBI. He was placed on the disabled list on June 26, after a violent collision at home plate left him with a mild concussion and sprained ankle.
He was signed by the Angels as a non-drafted free agent on July 19, 2006 out of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville and played in nine games in 2006.
Today's announcement leaves the Kernels roster at 25 active players with six currently on the disabled list.
