FARGO, N.D. - The Joliet JackHammers scored early and often to defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 12-2 on Tuesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. With the victory, the JackHammers improved to 18-13 overall. Fargo-Moorhead dropped to 18-12 with the loss.
The JackHammers scored eight runs in the first four innings and got hits from every batter in their line-up. Jayson Drobiak finished the night 3-for-6 with a double, home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. Jermaine Allensworth was 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, while John Lackaff was 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. Brad Flanders and Clyde Williams had RBI singles for the RedHawks.
Joliet starter Jason Shelley (4-2) picked up the victory. He pitched 8.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits. Shelley struck out five batters and walked four. Todd George (0-3) took the loss for Fargo-Moorhead. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits in 3.0 innings pitched. George struck out two batters and walked two.
The RedHawks and JackHammers will continue their three-game series on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field. Game time is 7:05 p.m., with Taft Cable (3-0) getting the start for the RedHawks. Joliet will counter with Damien Myers (0-2).
