Johnson, Villanueva Re-Sign With Barnstormers

DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory has announced the team has reached agreement with OL/DL Charles Johnson along with QB Brian Villanueva for the 2010 season. Both were key contributors for the 2009 Barnstormers squad that went 13-5 and captured a Midwest Division Championship.

Johnson (6-2, 330) has started every game for the Barnstormers at Defensive Tackle the past two seasons. The four-year veteran from Northern Iowa had his best season in 2009, recording 19 tackles (9 for loss) and 8 sacks. He also spent time playing Offensive Line in goal-line situations and at Fullback where he rushed for 7 yards and 2 TD's.

Villanueva, (6-4, 250) returns to the Barnstormers after an impressive 2009 campaign. The five-year Arena Football veteran started 15 games at quarterback completinng 278 of 481 passes for 60 touchdowns and had a passer rating of 97.6. In addition, he rushed for 50 yards and a team-high 16 touchdowns.

Both players will report to the Barnstormers training camp this March to compete for a spot with the club. The 2010 Arena Football One season kicks off this spring, with the scheudle to be announced in the coming weeks.
