Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Head Coach Sparky McEwen wasted little time getting to work after signing a two-year deal Monday. The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz announced today, they were assigned three former local state school players. The Yard Dawgz were assigned former OU Quarterback Tommy Grady, defensive back Brett Bowers and former Oklahoma State Cowboy Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Scott Broughton.

Tommy Grady (6'7, 245) returns to the Yard Dawgz for his second season. Last season, Grady began training camp as the back-up quarterback, but started the final three games, including a playoff loss to Tulsa. In three games, Grady completed 65% of his passes for 1149 yards and 23 touchdowns. Grady started his collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma backing up Heisman Trophy Winner Jason White before transferring to the University of Utah. In college, Grady completed 19 passes for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns while playing for both schools.

"As part of the new Arena Football One, it was very important for our organization to sign a top notch NFL caliber quarterback. Tommy Grady proved that over his record breaking performances that he is ready to lead our organization to a championship," Head Coach Sparky McEwen said, referring to Grady's 507 yard, 10 touchdown playoff game against Tulsa. "Over the years that I have coached professional football, Grady is without a doubt the most gifted quarterback that I have seen play in arena football."

Brett Bowers (6'1, 210) joins the Yard Dawgz after playing one game for the Tri-City Fever last season. The former University of Oklahoma defensive back played in over 36 games as a special team ace for the Sooners from 2004-2008. Bowers signed with OU after a highly touted high school career in Florida.

Scott Broughton (6'0, 200) transferred to Oklahoma State University from Georgia Military College (NJCAA) after a stellar career. During his sophomore year at GMC, Broughton had 10 interceptions, 2 blocked field goals and 2 touchdowns, earning him first-team All-American honors by the NJCAA. After transferring to OSU, Broughton switched from defensive back to wide receiver.

"We think that we have truly upgraded some of the most important positions in arena football with top quality Big XII talent," McEwen continued. "As a coaching staff, we benefit by having the ability to recruit former Cowboys and Sooners and allow them to continue to pursue their professional football careers in front of their hometown fans. We will continue to fill our roster with Oklahoma talent as we prepare to bring a championship to Oklahoma City."

The Yard Dawgz will play all their 2010 home games at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City. The regular season begins in April and runs through July with playoffs in August.

Yard Dawgz season tickets are available now for the 2010 season, starting as low as $63! For additional information, please call (405) 228-3294 or visit www.okcyarddawgz.com.
