READING, Pa. - Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher John Lannan will start for the Reading Fightin Phils on Wednesday night as part of his Major League rehab assignment.

Lannan, who was placed on the disabled list on April 17 after undergoing knee surgery, last started for the Clearwater Threshers (A+) on June 7 where he took the loss after tossing four innings and allowing one earned run on six hits. He also struck out five batters while walking one in the start.

He is the second member of the Philadelphia Phillies to rehab in Reading this season. Carlos Ruiz played with the team in late April as he came back from a 25-game suspension.

A left-handed pitcher, Lannan has spent parts of the past seven seasons pitching in the majors, mainly with the Washington Nationals where he posted a 42-52 record with a 4.01 ERA in 134 starts.

The 28-year old was signed by the Phillies as a free agent on December 18, 2012. With Philadelphia this season, Lannan is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA in three starts. In his first two starts of the year, Lannan posted a 2.77 ERA.

Tickets for Wednesday's game between the Fightin Phils and Baysox are on sale at the Fightins Ticket Office located at FirstEnergy Stadium, by phone at 610-370-BALL, or online at Fightins.com.
