New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Brad Glenn continued his hot streak for the Fisher Cats (31-34) on Tuesday night, but his base hits weren't enough as the Fisher Cats dropped their series opener to the Akron Aeros, 7-0, at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Glenn had two of the Fisher Cats five hits as New Hampshire fell to 0-4 against the Aeros (32-32) in 2013.
Jesus Aguilar opened the scoring for the Aeros in the top of the fourth inning against Marcus Walden. He led off with a gigantic home run to left field, his seventh and the third allowed by Walden on the season. An inning later, Jake Lowery belted a two-run shot to stake Akron to a 3-0 lead.
The Aeros added two more runs against Walden before he departed after six innings. The righty tied his season high with five earned runs on nine hits and a pair of walks. He allowed two home runs in a game for just the second time in his career, something that happened on April 15, 2012.
The Aeros added on two more runs against the Fisher Cats bullpen, padding the lead for starter Matt Packer (W; 4-5). The lefty earned his second win against the Fisher Cats in a week, tossing 6.2 shutout innings.
Glenn has now hit safely in nine of his last eleven games, posting an average of .375 during that time. Kevin Pillar added a double as did newly-recalled catcher A.J. Jimenez, and Ryan Schimpf singled for the only other Fisher Cats hit.
The series continues on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a David Ortiz mini-bobblehead courtesy of Easter Seals NH. Fans can purchase tickets at www.nhfishercats.com, at the Fisher Cats ticket office, and by calling (603) 641-2005.
Wednesday's pitching match-up features RHP Deck McGuire (3-6, 5.35) against Akron RHP Toru Murata (3-3, 3.80). Radio coverage of the game begins at 6:15 p.m. with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
