John Goossens Sustains Knee Injury, Ruled out for D.C. United Match

Midfielder John Goossens sustained a knee injury in Chicago Fire training Friday and has been diagnosed with a sprained left lateral collateral ligament (LCL). The 27-year-old Dutchman will sit out Saturday's home match against D.C. United and is expected to miss 1-4 weeks in recovery.

Goossens, who signed with the club on February 29, has recorded one assist in five appearances (three starts) in his inaugural MLS season.

The Chicago Fire and D.C. United will square off Saturday (April 30) at 4 p.m. at Toyota Park, with pregame coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
