
Joe Ross Begins Rehab Assignment with Chiefs, Will Start Sunday

The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce that RHP Joe Ross will start for the Chiefs on Major-League rehab on Sunday against the Pawtucket Red Sox at NBT Bank Stadium. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m. Ross, who has been on the Disabled List since July 3rd with right shoulder inflammation, will make his second rehab start with Syracuse this season and first since July 30th at Buffalo.
Ross made two rehab appearances at the end of July, including four and two-thirds innings for the Chiefs July 30th. The 23-year-old is in his second season in the Major Leagues, posting a 3.56 ERA in 32 games with Washington. This season, Ross held a 3.49 ERA in 16 starts before being placed on the Disabled List. Ross spent a month with the Chiefs last summer, posting an impressive 2.19 ERA in five starts, posting 15 strikeouts in 24 and two-thirds innings. The right-hander was acquired along with Trea Turner from the San Diego Padres in December 2014 as part of a three-team deal with the Padres and Tampa Bay Rays.
