Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland Winterhawks players Joe Morrow, Ty Rattie and Brad Ross have been invited to participate in Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp from Dec. 10 - 14 in Calgary, Alberta in preparation for the 2012 World Junior Championship.
Forty-one players were invited to the camp in advance of the World Junior Championship, which runs from December 26 - January 5 in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.
"Joe, Ty and Brad have had exceptional seasons thus far, and all three played very well at the Subway Super Series earlier this month in front of Team Canada's coaches and executives," said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. "The competition to win spots on Canada's World Junior team is intense, but I'm confident all three will make positive impressions at the selection camp."
Morrow, a defenseman, leads all Winterhawks blueliners and ranks third overall among WHL defensemen with 24 points this season. He was a first round draft pick, 23rd overall, of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
Rattie, a right winger, leads the Winterhawks and ranks third overall in league scoring with 50 points this season. He was a second round pick, 32nd overall, of the St. Louis Blues in the 2011 NHL Draft.
Ross, a left winger, is third in team scoring this season with 34 points. He was a second round pick, 43rd overall, of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2010 NHL Draft.
Both Morrow and Rattie attended Team Canada's development camp in August, while Ross will be taking part in his second selection camp for Team Canada after attending last year.
Five-game ticket plans are now available and start at just $60 per person and include five free gifts. Group rates start at 10 people ($16.50 per person) and every ticket includes a free Winterhawks hat. Call 503-236-HAWK or e-mail seats@winterhawks.com today to guarantee the best locations.
