A Busy Week for the Wheat Kings

Brandon, MB. -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings will be busy both on and off the ice this week as they close out November and begin the final month of the year.

In addition to kicking off a 3-game home stand Wednesday night against the visiting Vancouver Giants, the Wheat Kings will be jumping on board thePrecision Toyota Community Cruiser Tundra and travelling out to both Carberry and Gladstone on Monday.

Monday morning, members of the Wheat Kings will be in Carberry as part of the club'sCIBC Read to Succeed Program and in the afternoon,Ryan Pulock, Corbin BoesandJason Swyripa will be travelling to Gladstone for the secondCanadian Tire - Rogers Minor Hockey Caravan visit of the 2011-12 regular season.

In addition to reading to students in Carberry, the Wheat Kings will be distributing complimentary bookmarks and tickets to Brandon's December 30th game against the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings.

In Gladstone, the Wheat Kings will be skating with two of the community's minor hockey teams, signing autographs and distributing tickets to their Friday, December 16th game against Kamloops - compliments of Rogers and Canadian Tire.

The Wheat Kings, who begin the week with a record of 16-10-1-1 and sitting in a tie for second place in the WHL's Eastern Division, will close out this week's home stand with games on Friday and Sunday nights against the Red Deer Rebels and Regina Pats respectively. Friday's game will feature the annualShoppers Mall Teddy Bear Toss Nightat Westman Place. All stuffed animals collected on the ice will be donated to the Brandon Christmas Cheer Board.
