
JJ Matijevic Powers Skeeters to Win over Dodgers

(OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma) - JJ Matijevic delivered two home runs to help lead the Sugar Land Skeeters to a series-ending 8-3 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Matijevic hit a solo shot in the second and two-run homer in the seventh, giving him a combined 16 on the season and seven since joining the Skeeters from Double A Corpus Christi.
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman continued his MLB Rehab Assignment on Tuesday, starting at designated hitter and going 0-for-4 with a walk. He just missed a solo home run in his first at-bat of the night, sending Oklahoma City left fielder Zach Reks to the warning track to make a leaping catch.
Miguelangel Sierra added a two-run shot in the second inning, which was his seventh of the year and gave him homers in each of his last two appearances. Bryan De La Cruz got the Skeeters on the board in the first inning with an RBI double. The Skeeters would not trail throughout the win. Garrett Stubbs put the Skeeters up 5-1 in the fourth with an RBI single.
The Skeeters finished out their 12-game road trip at 7-5 and sit 4 1/2 games ahead of Oklahoma City for first place in the East Division of Triple A West.
Shawn Dubin got the start for the Skeeters, making his first appearance since May 28. Dubin took a no-decision, striking out three and allowing a run through 2 2/3 innings. JP France moved to 3-0 on the year, tossing the final 4 2/3 innings of the win in relief. France struck out four in the scoreless outing.
Josh James continued his MLB Rehab assignment with the Skeeters, striking out a batter through a scoreless 1/3 of an inning. James logged 18 pitches in the rehab outing.
Omar Estevez, DJ Peters and Steven Souza Jr. each drove in runs for the Dodgers. Souza Jr. hit a solo home run off Dubin in the third inning. Oklahoma City starter Edwin Uceta took the loss. He allowed four runs on five hits through two innings.
The Skeeters return home to Constellation Field to begin a seven-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday.
