
Jim O'Brien Of The Seattle Thunderbird Named CHL Player Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jim O'Brien of the Seattle Thunderbirds is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 24 after scoring two goals and six assists for eight points in three games.
O'Brien had three assists and was named second star in a 6-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday, scored a goal and two assists in a 5-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets on Friday and finished the week with a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday. He was plus-7 during the week.
The 19-year-old from Maplewood, Minnesota was a first round pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2007. He is in his first WHL season after playing at the University of Minnesota last season.
Michael Frolik of the Rimouski Oceanic was the QMJHL nominee after scoring two goals and five assists for seven points in three games and Kyle Gajewski of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was the OHL nominee after going 2-0-0-0 with a shutout last week.
