JetHawks Erupt for 14 in 66ers Loss

In a game where Lancaster needed a win to remain in the hunt for the first half championship with two games remaining, the JetHawks (36-33) scored early and often to keep their hopes alive of winning the first half of the season. Inland Empire's (31-38) starting pitcher Manuarys Correa (3-4) was only able to last three innings after giving up ten runs on eleven hits.

Inland Empire's hitters were stifledby seven strong innings of pitching by Lancaster starting pitcher DavidMartinez (2-3). The righty retired twenty one of twenty two 66ers after TravisWitherspoon's single to lead off the game and finished the his night onlygiving up two base knocks.

Inland Empire did make the game interesting in the top of the eighth when they were able to push across four runs with two outs. Jean Almanzar and Brian Hernandez each had an RBI and the California League's RBI leader CJ Cron batted in two runs with a double, however Brian Hernandez was thrown out at the plate trying to score and ended the 66ers rally.

The 66ers will try to avoid a sweep at the wings of the Lancaster JetHawks in the final game of the 2012 season's first half Saturday night.
