Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Inland Empire had a chance to play spoiler against the Lancaster JetHawks (37-33) but failed to find the winners circle in the first half finale, falling by a final of 5-3. C.J. Cron drove in all three runs in the loss for the 66ers (31-39) increasing his league leading RBI total to 60.
Lancaster's offense jumped in front against the 66ers with All-Star George Springer propelling the offense to a run. He, reached base on a single, stole second, took third on an error and scored on a wild pitch to put Lancaster in the lead. C.J. Cron tied the game with his team leading 11thhome run of the season, but the JetHawks jumped in front for good with a two run home run from Chris Epps in the 4th.
JetHawks All Star pitcher Bobby Doran dominated the 66ers through 7 1/3 innings, but when he left the game the 66ers took advantage of the JetHawks bullpen. With runners at second and third and the team trailing 5-1 with two gone in the 8th, C.J. Cron came to the plate and delivered a two run single. But Cron didn't come to the plate again and the 66ers failed to score again, leaving the 66ers limping into the All-Star break having lost five straight.
Inland Empire will regroup over the All Star break and then kick off the second half of the season with a seven game homestand at San Manuel Stadium. It all starts with a Thirsty Thursday presented by Hanger 24, June 21st. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55 pm.
