Jackson Jolts Storm to Victory

Bakersfield - With one game left to play in the first half the Storm are looking to end on a high note as they scored early and held on for the 8-4 win over the Bakersfield Blaze.

The Storm were led by Tommy Medica and Luis Domoromo who both went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs apiece.

A pair of doubles put the Storm on the board in the first kicked off by Medica who hit his 10th double of the season scoring Cory Spangenberg. Medica would score himself after Rymer Liriano smacked his 20th double of the season to right field to go ahead 2-0.

Bakersfield put two on in the first but Storm starter Matt Jackson picked off Theo Bowe and forced Dominic D'Anna to hit into 4-6-3 double play.

Jackson went five innings allowing three runs on five hits and struck out two but picked up his fourth win in a Storm uniform.

The Storm doubled their lead in the second on a slew of singles. Domoromo singles and stole second to put a runner in scoring position allowing Chris Bisson to drive him in with a single to right field.

Bisson would score himself off a two-out single by Spangenberg giving the Storm a 4-0 lead.

Bakersfield would score runs in the second, third and fourth to come within one of the Storm, but that's as close as they would get.

Medica would score again in the fifth after a leadoff walk and the Storm rattled off a three-run seventh when Michael Wing hit a bases clearing double giving the Storm eight runs on 13 hits on the night.

The Storm play their final game of the first half as they wrap up the series tomorrow against the Blaze at 7:45 p.m.

Storm fans, The Storm will return to The Diamond next Thursday following the All-Star break. Storm All-Stars Donn Roach, Kevin Quackenbush, Cory Spangenberg, Rico Noel and Rymer Liriano will all head to Winston-Salem, NC to represent The California League while facing the Carolina League All-Stars.
