Jeremy Lin Reassigned to Reno Bighorns

RENO, Nev.- Golden State Warriors guard Jeremy Lin was reassigned to the Reno Bighorns, the Warriors' NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The assignment marks the 29th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment for Lin, a rookie out of Harvard.

Lin (6-3, 200) was first assigned to Reno on Dec. 28 and appeared in four games for the Bighorns. He averaged 18.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 2.8 spg during his time in Reno. He has appeared in 17 games this season for Golden State, averaging 1.9 points in 8.5 minutes. In the 2010 NBA Summer League, Lin averaged 9.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in five games with the Dallas Mavericks.

Lin's reassignment marks the third time this season that the Bighorns have been assigned an NBA player. In addition to Lin's earlier assignment, Sacramento Kings C Hassan Whiteside was assigned on Nov. 29, and appeared in 14 games with Reno before being recalled over the weekend. Before this season, the Kings' Donte Greene-who appeared in five games during the 2008-09 season-had been the only assignment in Bighorns franchise history.

The Warriors signed Lin as an undrafted free agent in July. In four years at Harvard, Lin averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He became the first player in Ivy League history to record 1,450 points, 450 rebounds, 400 assists and 200 steals, and was one of 11 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award as a senior.

The Bighorns travel to the NBA D-League Showcase this Wednesday and Thursday before returning to Reno to play host to the Texas Legends on Saturday night at 7 p.m. PT.
